When you have surgery watching, TV marathons can get old especially if you are on bed rest. The good news is there are other things you can do other than watch TV all day long.
Play Cards- Invite a friend or two and I am sure they will be more than willing to sit and play a couple of games with you. Unless they have stuff, they have to do.
Listen to music- Every time I am hospitalized I bring my iPod it helps me relieve stress and forget about my current situation.
Puzzles- They are a great way to challenge your mind and at the same time entertaining you. A lot of puzzles can be very challenging so they might take a while so don’t pick an incredibly easy puzzle then you are back where you started. A little challenge never hurt anybody.
Write- If you are bedridden for a while you could consider starting a blog or maybe journaling. You may find a new hobby, you will never know until you try. When I first started writing I thought I was going to hate it but actually, it was the opposite. Great things come to those who step out comfort zones!
Video games- When I recover from surgery I either play computer games or the PlayStation. Not everyone will own a PlayStation so if you do not own a PlayStation you can play computer games online.
Learn a Language- Have you ever wanted to learn another language? When you are bedridden is the perfect time to do that because there is nothing else to do. Once you start there is a higher likelihood of continuing once you have recovered. The trick is getting started.
Learn to type- Do you type slow? Recovering from surgery is the perfect time to improve your typing speed. If you are looking for a receptionist position you want to have a fast typing speed. If you don’t, you will have a hard time getting hired. There is a bunch of free online websites that help improve your typing speed.Take advantage of your downtime and improve your typing speed.
Pinterest- I am literally addicted to Pinterest there is so much stuff on there that I would not have found if I did not have one. If you have nothing to do, I suggest making a few boards it will keep you entertained for a while.
Call a friend- Chances are if you are recovering from surgery your friends are going to wonder how you are doing. Give them a ring.
Endless TV watching does not have to be your life when you are recovering from surgery because that gets old in like two days. Surgery is not fun as is, but it is something that needs to be done sometimes and there is nothing you can do about it. Your attitude also plays a huge role in the recovery process. You need to think positively during the recovery process because it will go by faster. If you think negatively and act like nothing could be worse it will be an incredibly slow process and no one will want to be around you. You will also want to be nice to people because if you are too demanding no one will want to do anything for you. So, before you go barking out orders remember all the things you will need help with doing. If you have any questions about things, you can do while recovering from surgery please leave them in the comments below.
