Sometimes we need to get stuff done but we have no motivation to do so. How can we become more motivated to get stuff done? There are a couple of things you can do to help you to be more productive and get through your to-do list!
Planning- Don’t ever overestimate how many tasks you can get done in one day! Start with one small task then progress from there. I recommend doing tasks you are not looking forward to first to get them out of the way. That way you don’t put it off until the last minute. If you do that your to-do list will get overwhelming because you kept putting tasks off.
Wake up earlier- If you are waking up at three in the afternoon you will probably get less done than if you woke up at nine am. If you have a ton of stuff to do, wake up earlier and give yourself more time!
Take breaks- If you have been studying for hours for a big test and find you hit a mental block, consider taking a ten to fifteen-minute break to recharge. During your break go for a short walk or have a snack to recharge. Watching Netflix during your break is not being productive! All that will do is make it so you don’t want to study anymore because you got hooked on a show.
Keep it fun- Some tasks are not going to be fun, I am not going to lie but you have to do them. Why not try to make them fun? That way you are more inclined to do them because you made them a little more bearable. Things such as folding or doing the laundry are not going to be fun so why not listen to your favorite music while doing them to make it a little more enjoyable. If you are looking forward to something you are more likely to do it.
Rewards- If certain tasks are a serious drag for you, consider having small rewards for completing larger tasks. It makes you want to complete them because you are looking forward to the reward and not thinking about the task.
Educate yourself- There are lots of books and information on the Internet if you are really interested in ways to become more productive. Do your research! If you have a Kindle you can get a lot of those kinds of books so you don’t have to worry about spending a lot of money.
Distractions- If Facebook is a distraction while studying for a test, either temporarily block it or walk away from your computer so you’re not tempted to get on it. If you have a problem with friends calling, you can install an app that says do not disturb whenever your tries to call you.
Being productive when you just don’t want to do anything can be very hard to do. Trying these tips may be able to help you at least get something done rather than just sitting around and doing nothing while your to-do list piles up.
