How to stick to your New Year’s Resolutions

It is almost 2018 which is crazy because I remember when this year started. How did a whole year go by already? At the beginning of the year, most people set New Year’s Resolution’s and by February they give up. Most people may have some incredible goals but they have problems sticking to it. For those of you who weren’t aware January 1st is the worst day to go to the gym! I will give you some of my tips on how to stick to your New Year’s Resolution’s and crush all your goals!

Set realistic goals- A lot of people tend to give up on their New Year’s Resolution’s because they choose goals that are unrealistic. Don’t pick a goal you can achieve in a week but at the same time don’t choose a goal that would be impossible to achieve. Setting your standards too high is setting yourself up for failure.

You don’t have to advertise- Don’t ever feel like you have to advertise your New Year’s Resolutions! Some people don’t like to, I know I don’t it gives me anxiety when I announce my New Years resolutions, so I don’t announce them. If I fail, I don’t want the whole world to know I failed so I keep my New Year’s Resolution’s private!

Role Models- Do you have someone you look up to on social media? Follow them, and see if they have any tricks to help you stay on track.

Support System- Do you have any friends or family that can help you get on track? If you don’t that is okay send me an email I would be glad to help!

Vision board- Make a vision board! What is a vision board? It is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life. Get creative, it is your vision board!

Surround yourself with positive people- As you attempt to conquer your new goals it will be a lot easier to achieve them if you surround yourself with positive people. If you surround yourself with people who are constantly bringing you down they may convince you are unable to achieve your goal. A positive person will be motivating you not tearing you down.

Write it down- If you write down your goals and the steps it will take to achieve them you have a better chance at achieving your goal. Seeing it written down is a lot easier to visualize it being accomplished than it would be if you just had the goal in your head.

Don’t beat yourself up- We all have minor missteps nobody is perfect! When this happens just accept you made a mistake and get back on track! Beating yourself up over something small is only going to cause you to quit. It is so stupid to quit because you messed up one day!

If achieving a goal has been a real struggle for you try to make a smaller goal and then progress from there. If you fail that is okay, you can try again next year! Trying to achieve a goal is the most important part! How many bumps you hit along the way does not matter because nobody is perfect.
