Fear of failure

failure

Have you ever not done something because you were afraid you were going to fail? Not trying new things because you could fail is not the answer! Trying new things opens a lot of doors to opportunities that you would not have had if you stayed in your comfort zone! I will explain why you should not fear failure and how you can deal with it if you do fear failure.

Don’t listen to negative people- When I was in high school I had to pass a state test in order to graduate and if you were unable to pass you had to take a remedial course until you did. Since I was unable to pass I had to take a remedial reading course and one of the teachers I had told us we were all failures if we did not pass! I don’t know if this was supposed to be some sort of motivation but in all honesty, all it did was kill my self-esteem! I ended up having to get the test waived because my learning disability made it difficult to pass. For the longest time, I thought I was a failure so I tried different careers because I felt like I had something to prove. Then I eventually realized that not passing a test does not make you a failure and I let that teacher get to my head.

You could fail- Yes you could fail, but you could also be very successful and will never know until you try!

It’s okay if you do fail- If you try something new and fail that is okay, everybody has failed at something at some point! If you fail, try something else or make smaller goals if your goals are set too high that may be the reason you failed.

Learn from your mistakes-  Instead of getting depressed that you failed, learn from your mistakes! When you make a mistake, it may help you figure out what you need to do to be successful.

Just do it- Sometimes when you have something you want to do you just have to do it without thinking about it too much. Once you start thinking about all the things that could go wrong you will most likely second-guess your decision! When I first started blogging, I was very hesitant because it was way out of my comfort zone so instead of making a list of everything that could go wrong I just tried it. What did I have to lose?

Before I started blogging I feared my blog could fail but I took the risk anyway! Taking a risk like this has opened a lot of doors to opportunities I did not have before I started blogging. Even though something could fail it also could be very successful so not doing something because it could fail could make you miss out on a lot of great opportunities! Even if something does fail that is okay, everyone has failed at some point giving up is not the answer! If you any questions about why you should not fear failure please leave them in the comments below.
